One of the most significant transformations in the waterproofing industry in recent years has been the shift from product-based solutions to holistic, system-oriented approaches. Spain-based Revestech Solutions SL stands out as one of the global pioneers of this transformation with its EVAC membrane technology, while in Türkiye, Bayrak Yalıtım serves as a strategic distributor bringing this technology to the field with more than 35 years of application expertise. Osay Havuz, with its hands-on experience in swimming pools and wet-area applications, plays a critical role in the process by testing the real-world performance of these systems. In this exclusive interview, Bayrak Yalıtım Board Member and Foreign Trade & E-Commerce Director Salih Reis Bayrak, Revestech Solutions SL Regional Business Development Manager Metin Erdün, and Osay Havuz Founder Mazhar Güven evaluated the development of EVAC membrane technology in the Turkish market, its on-site performance, application advantages, and future strategic goals from all perspectives.

In the interview bringing together Revestech Solutions, Bayrak Yalıtım, and Osay Havuz, the transition from product-based solutions to system-oriented approaches in the waterproofing industry, as well as the development of EVAC membrane technology in Türkiye, was discussed in depth. The EVAC membrane systems developed by Spain-based Revestech are being applied across a wide range of building types, supported by Bayrak Yalıtım’s long-standing field expertise and Osay Havuz’s practical construction experience. Salih Reis Bayrak noted that their collaboration with Revestech dates back approximately 6 years, emphasizing that with over 35 years of industry experience, they have had the opportunity to evaluate numerous products in the sector. He stated that the most distinguishing feature of EVAC membrane technology compared to other systems is its ability to offer application-specific detailing solutions for every use case. Bayrak also highlighted that while the technology was initially relatively unknown in Türkiye, it has gained significant recognition over time through successful implementations in the right projects.

Metin Erdün, Regional Business Development Manager at Revestech Solutions SL, explained that Revestech is a Spain-based global manufacturer exporting to more than 60 countries. He emphasized that the partnership established in Türkiye with Bayrak Yalıtım is not merely commercial but also strongly focused on product development. Erdün noted that feedback from the field directly influences product development processes and that experiences gathered from different countries are integrated into R&D activities. Osay Havuz Founder Mazhar Güven shared that he has been active in the industry since 2002 and has been using EVAC membrane systems for approximately 4–5 years, stating that the system provides a high level of confidence, especially in complex and high-risk projects. He added that their first application was carried out on a parking structure project, and following its successful results, the system has become indispensable particularly in pool and renovation projects.

Regarding application across different surfaces, Bayrak explained that Revestech membranes, when used with the correct adhesives, can be applied to various substrates such as concrete, steel, and wood. He also emphasized that they provide technical support to applicators in this regard. Erdün underlined that the system approach is one of Revestech’s core philosophies, noting that products are developed in different grammages and thicknesses depending on the requirements of each application area. He mentioned that products such as Dry40, Dry50, Dry80, and Dry120 are positioned according to different usage scenarios.

Erdün further highlighted that the vapor barrier property of the system is particularly critical in high-humidity environments such as indoor pools, hammams, and spa areas, explaining that it protects structural elements against corrosion. Güven also pointed out that this feature makes a significant difference in terms of long-term structural durability on site. Addressing ease and speed of application, Erdün noted that thanks to their thin and flexible structure, EVAC membranes significantly reduce the need for demolition in renovation projects and shorten labor time considerably. Güven added that compared to traditional systems, the application process is much faster and the risk of errors is significantly lower.

In conclusion, the interview highlighted a shared consensus that EVAC membrane systems are not merely a waterproofing product, but a comprehensive system solution addressing detailing as an integrated whole. Through the collaboration of Bayrak Yalıtım, Revestech, and Osay Havuz, the technology continues to strengthen its position in the Turkish market.
