Oversights in renovation processes can create serious risks both for user safety and for the long-term performance of the system. Therefore, in modern pools, every component—from filtration systems and electrical safety to piping design and surface materials—must be evaluated as an integrated whole. We spoke with Kaan Batmaz, Founder of CRN Pool & Sauna SPA, about the fundamental reasons behind pool renovation needs and the critical importance of selecting the right materials and infrastructure systems.

Kaan Batmaz stated that pool renovation is not merely an aesthetic renewal process, but a technical intervention that requires a complete reassessment of the infrastructure. He emphasized that properly designed mechanical and electrical systems are essential for both hygiene and user safety, noting that elements such as water chemistry control, filtration systems, grounding, and residual current devices (RCDs) must be professionally engineered.

Batmaz explained that the most common causes driving renovation include material deterioration, insulation failures, water leakage, and outdated technological systems. He also highlighted that changing user expectations, increasing hygiene awareness, and the demand for energy efficiency significantly influence renovation decisions. He added that the post-pandemic rise in pool usage has accelerated the transition toward safer and more modern systems.

Regarding surface materials, Batmaz pointed out that porcelain stands out as a leading solution. He stated that Serapool products offer significant hygiene advantages thanks to their low water absorption rate, high chemical resistance, and non-porous structure. He also noted that porcelain enhances safety with its R-11 slip resistance standard and provides long-lasting performance.
