Serapool Porcelain’s recently introduced Relax Series goes beyond the concept of a conventional tile collection, offering an innovative approach that views pool design as an integrated system. Combining a nature-inspired design language, the symbolic meaning of the lotus flower, and the high-performance benefits of full-body porcelain technology, the series delivers a balanced solution in both aesthetic and technical terms. We spoke with Öznur Doğan, Corporate Communications Manager of Serapool, about the design philosophy behind the Relax Series, its engineering value, sustainability attributes, and the advantages of Full-Body Porcelain technology.

According to Öznur Doğan, the Relax Series was developed as a next-generation pool solution that extends far beyond aesthetics, introducing a holistic perspective to pool architecture. She emphasized that evolving user expectations have significantly influenced product development processes in recent years, with users increasingly seeking not only visually appealing designs but also environments that provide psychological comfort, relaxation, and a sense of well-being.

Doğan explained that the series is rooted in a nature-inspired design philosophy. The lotus flower, symbolizing purity, serenity, and renewal, served as a key source of inspiration throughout the design process. This concept is reflected through soft pastel transitions, low-contrast color palettes, and homogeneous surface textures, creating a calm, balanced, and timeless spatial experience around the pool environment.

Highlighting the material characteristics of the collection, Doğan noted that the porcelain tiles used in the Relax Series are manufactured from natural raw materials and designed in a non-rectified format. This approach creates a more organic and authentic surface character while enhancing visual continuity through natural grout transitions. She added that porcelain’s low water absorption rate and high abrasion resistance contribute to the long-term durability and performance of the system.

One of the most distinctive features of the Relax Series, according to Doğan, is its patchwork system composed of nine different tile combinations. Designed to work harmoniously together, these tiles create a natural visual rhythm across pool surfaces while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. The result is a balanced and refined composition that brings a sense of tranquility, simplicity, and the calming essence of nature into pool environments.

Doğan also stressed that the Relax Series should not be viewed solely as a tile collection. Instead, it has been conceived as an integrated pool system encompassing all architectural components of the pool. The range includes concave and convex pieces, anti-slip stair elements, infinity pool tiles, overflow channel handrails, and drainage grille solutions, all designed to ensure both visual consistency and functional efficiency throughout the project.

The technical foundation of the series is based on Full-Body Porcelain technology. Doğan explained that in this technology, color and texture extend throughout the entire body of the tile rather than being limited to the surface layer. As a result, the material maintains its visual integrity even in cases of impact, cutting, or wear. Thanks to its low-porosity structure, water absorption is minimized, while resistance to frost, UV exposure, and pool chemicals is significantly enhanced, ensuring long-term performance in demanding environments.

Addressing safety and hygiene, Doğan stated that all products within the Relax Series achieve a minimum slip-resistance rating of 45 PTV, providing a reliable safety standard for wet-area applications. Furthermore, the non-porous porcelain surface offers high resistance to stains, mold, bacteria, and moisture-related issues, simplifying maintenance procedures while supporting higher hygiene standards.
